Modders Unlock Faster DLSS 5 Model in Older Games

Modders have pulled NVIDIA's faster DLSS 5 neural rendering model out of NBA 2K27 and tested it in other titles, and the results are worth a closer look. The updated 310.9.16.0 DLL keeps the older model as Preset A and the new one as Preset B, making side-by-side comparison straightforward. One tester reported gains of up to 90% in The Witcher 3, but the creator stressed that results vary by game and that 90% looks like a best case. NVIDIA's own claims align in direction: up to 2x faster neural rendering than the September version, a model shrunk by 24% to roughly 118 million parameters, 20% lower VRAM use at 4K and up to 40% higher frame rates in NBA 2K27. For the industry, the story highlights how quickly community tooling can test vendor updates in the wild. It also shows the gap between official hardware support, currently RTX 50-series and GeForce NOW, and what the community can do with the same software.
