NASA wants to deliver science faster

NASA Science has published a letter to the science community stating that it wants to deliver science faster. The agency says it is changing how it competes for and selects missions to make that happen.

For anyone working in research, engineering, or space technology, this is a signal worth watching. Mission selection and competition shape which projects get funded, how teams plan their work, and how quickly findings reach the public. Changes to those processes can affect timelines, priorities, and the skills organizations need.

NASA is also hosting a virtual NASA Science Town Hall on Monday, October 26, which gives the community a direct channel to ask questions and understand the reasoning behind the shift.

How do you see faster selection processes affecting your field? I'd welcome perspectives from those working on missions and science programs.
