Apple orders 44% more iPhone Duo units
A new report claims Apple has raised its iPhone Duo shipment target by 44%, from 9.7 million units to 14 million for the first 12 months of production. Supply chain sources say Foxconn and component makers have received the updated instructions.
The signal here goes beyond one phone. Pre-orders pushed shipping dates into January within hours, which suggests demand is outpacing the initial plan. For suppliers, that means volume forecasts are being revised quickly, and component planning for foldable hardware is getting more complex.
It also connects to earlier reporting. Back in July, Nikkei Asia said Apple had asked suppliers to make around 10 million foldable iPhones. If the new figures hold, the foldable category is moving from experiment to serious production.
What does this mean for hardware teams? Watch supplier capacity and ramp timelines closely.
