SpaceX launches a classified Space Force mission tonight

SpaceX is set to launch a classified mission for the U.S. Space Force from California this evening (Oct. 15), with the launch available to watch live. Because the payload is classified, the public will not learn the mission's specifics from the launch itself. What stands out is how routine national security launches have become part of the commercial space landscape, with government agencies relying on private providers to reach orbit. For professionals in aerospace, defense, and space technology, this is a reminder that launch providers are now core infrastructure for government missions. Watch how these partnerships evolve, since they shape hiring, engineering priorities, and procurement across the sector.
