Edit Instagram videos with your AI agent on Mac
Instagram's standalone video editing app, Edits, is now available on macOS, and it lets users connect the AI agent of their choice to assemble videos. This is a notable shift in how creative software is being built.
According to an interview Instagram's Matthew Simari, head of product management for Edits, gave to The Verge, the company is releasing an MCP with Edits Desktop. An MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is a standard way for AI tools to connect to software and data. Opening the app to it means AI agents can work inside a production tool rather than alongside it.
For video creators, this could change workflows, with editing becoming a task delegated to assistants. For developers and product teams, it signals that interoperability with AI agents is becoming a product expectation, not a bonus feature.
Where do you see AI agents fitting into creative workflows over the next few years?
