Xbox PC App Claims 60% Faster Launches

Performance wars are spreading across PC software. Epic Games recently claimed much faster launch times for its Epic Games Launcher, and a Steam update followed with similar improvements. Now Microsoft says its new Xbox app for PC launches up to 60% faster, with Home, Store, and Game Pass pages loading up to 50% faster and in-app windows launching 65% faster.

What stands out to me is the emphasis on usability alongside speed. Microsoft has simplified navigation, updated filters, added new ways to organize games, moved the Friends tab to a more prominent spot, widened search to cover installed games, add-ons, and people, and refreshed the visual design to make the app easier to scan.

The caveat is that the speed claims come without startup times or test data, so they are hard to verify today. For product and platform teams, it is a reminder that everyday friction in launchers and storefronts is now a competitive battleground. Measured, published benchmarks would make these promises far more credible.
