DLSS Ray Reconstruction Now Runs on AMD Radeon GPUs

A community-built mod now brings NVIDIA's DLSS Ray Reconstruction to AMD Radeon GPUs. The DLSS-NR-on-AMD project, developed by danielblnc, released version 0.8.0 with support for RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 architectures. According to the report, the update covers virtually all of NVIDIA's modern DLSS feature set, including Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, and Frame Generation with Multi Frame Generation.

Why it matters: proprietary upscaling and frame generation technologies have become key differentiators in GPUs, and this shows how quickly independent developers can extend them across hardware vendors. For hardware teams and game developers, it raises questions about how vendor-locked features will be adopted and supported in the PC ecosystem.

It also highlights the growing influence of the modding community on PC graphics, an area where engineering skills in driver-level and rendering work are increasingly in demand.
