Some Samsung Galaxy tablets are nearing their final year of updates

Software support windows are becoming a real buying factor for tablets, not just a footnote on a spec sheet. Engadget reports that some Samsung Galaxy tablets are in their last year of software support. Samsung's latest update commitment for its tablets is a strong step, but older devices can't benefit from it.

For consumers, this is a reminder to check how long a device will receive updates before buying, especially for tablets used for work, school or long-term media consumption. For manufacturers and product teams, it shows how much value users place on the length of support, and how quickly older hardware can fall outside the promise.

As longer update commitments become a competitive point, the gap between new and existing devices will be a key question for the industry. How do you weigh update support when choosing your next tablet?
